Fira de la Castanya
The Viladrau Fira de la Castanya (Chestnut Fair) has been held since 1995 as a commercial activity that brings together culture, nature and the renaissance of a product from the land that is so unknown, yet so Catalan - the Viladrau and Montseny chestnut.
Until the middle of the 20th century, the Viladrau chestnut was the most prized of those traded in Catalonia. The renowned chestnut sellers in Barcelona only wanted to roast Viladrau chestnuts.
The Montseny chestnut, with a subtle and shiny colour, sweet and easy to cook, is collected under controlled environmental conditions in the Montseny Natural Park.
The Viladrau Fira de la Castanya (Chestnut Fair) surprises visitors with the unique nature of its products, the outburst of colours of the autumnal landscapes and the majestic nature of century-old chestnut trees.
