With a backdrop of the imposing peaks of Serra de l'Oriol and Sant Segimon, on a small rise cut through by the Riera de l'Erola and the Torrent de Rentadors, can be found La Sala de Viladrau mansion.

The oldest part of the house dates back to the 14th century, when it was fortified and transformed into a Domus with an enclosing wall and watchtower. The keep dates back to the 17th century.

Despite the fact that the first documents about the mansion date back to 1356, the earliest records and the name "Sala" itself mean that its origins can be traced to a few centuries prior to this.

Joan Sala i Ferrer, alias Sarrallonga, the best known bandit in history, was born at La Sala in the year 1594.
