Festa Major
Known as the "Fiesta Mayor de verano" (summer festival), this is held on the 8th of September, the day of the Vírgenes Encontradas (Encountered Virgins).
A village festival, where visitors are made to feel at home.
A large number of popular activities for all tastes and ages, where there are no shortages of festivities, dances in the pavilion, popular dances, sardanas, the Correfoc and the summer festival ceremony.
The festival is often extended to either coincide with the closest weekend or the National Day of Catalonia.
Don't miss:
- The Contra-dance, of old English origin
- The Ball del Ciri, the best known dance of Viladrau
- The Ball del Confeti, where the pubilla and hereu (local versions of beauty queens and kings) are chosen.
- The sardana dances in the centre of the Plaza Mayor square
A lively village festival that must be experienced.
